Additional Information It is essential that anyone desiring to host a Youth Protection session actively collaborate with neighboring parishes. Before requesting dates, check with your nearest parishes. Find out if the dates will work for them and if they will promote attendance.
Details For Spanish language workshops: The presenter is not fluent in Spanish. However, all materials and videos are in Spanish. The hosting parish will need to provide a bilingual adult who can translate for the presenter. Spanish language Youth Protection 1 is presented only on a regional basis.
The Diocese does not conduct youth protection sessions for teenagers. Young people who act as aides or helpers are subject to all the same rules and procedures as other minors. As always, a teenager is never permitted to take the place of a qualified adult leader, teacher or supervisor. While they may not serve as adults in supervisory roles, young people 18 to 20 may attend Youth Protection 1 for educational purposes. Attendance at Youth Protection workshops does not qualify an 18-20 year old as an adult. He or she must be 21 or over.
