In 2018-2019 live Youth Protection 1 sessions (English and Spanish) will be held on a regional basis.
Is your church or school willing to host a regional live Youth Protection 1?
(Items on this list have changed. Please review even if you have hosted many sessions!) Host Responsibilities:
Regional locations must have a meeting space able to hold at least 100 adults at tables and chairs.
Regional location should be a geographically central location for a cluster of parishes.
Sessions are open to any adult from any Catholic institution who wishes to attend.
Ordinarily, sessions are not conducted on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays. Our experience has been that Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays are the best evenings for sessions.
Insure that an announcement is placed in the parish bulletin and/or parent newsletter. This needs to be done at least three weeks in advance. Word the announcement so it is clear the session is open to any adult who wishes to attend.
Communicate with all Catholic institutions in your area. Let them know well in advance. This is doubly important where Catholic Schools and Parishes are in close proximity to each other.
Make sure there are at least two long tables available for the presenter.
All registration for workshops will be done using a link on the diocesan Schedule of Youth Protection Training. The decision to cancel a workshop may be based on the number of people who register on-line.
Insure the room is open and available at least forty-five minutes prior to start time. This allows the presenter adequate time to set-up.
Allow at least 45 minutes after the session for the presenter to pack and load. Assistance with loading and unloading is much appreciated.
A parish/school staff member or key volunteer must be present and attend the workshop.
For Spanish workshops: Provide the name and phone number of the person who will translate from English to Spanish for the presenter.
