Parishes or schools may request to host a Youth Protection workshop.
Youth Protection 2 is a 2.5 hour workshop. The workshop is intended for those who are administrators, principals, pastors, Catholic school teachers, or managers. It is required that participants have previously attended Youth Protection 1. Attendance at Youth Protection 2 will renew your Youth Protection 1 card.
NEW! - It is essential that anyone desiring to host a Youth Protection session actively collaborate with neighboring parishes and schools. Before requesting dates check with your nearest parishes and Catholic schools. Find out if the dates will work for them and if they will promote attendance.
The Diocese does not conduct youth protection sessions for teenagers. Young people who act as aides or helpers are subject to all the same rules and procedures as other minors. As always, a teenager is never permitted to take the place of a qualified adult leader, teacher or supervisor. While they may not serve as adults in supervisory roles, young people 18 to 20 may attend Youth Protection 1 for educational purposes. Attendance at Youth Protection workshops does not qualify an 18-20 year old as an adult. He or she must be 21 or over.
